Cumberbatch's thrill with Star Trek

Benedict Cumberbatch is 'over the moon' about his Star Trek role

Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed he is "thrilled" with his forthcoming role in Star Trek 2, but admitted he couldn't say anything more.

The Sherlock star is set to play the villain in JJ Abrams' upcoming sequel alongside returning cast members Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana.

"It's a great job to get, and I'm thrilled," he said.

He quipped that he isn't allowed to say any more: "I can tell you nothing. There's a lawyer standing here saying that I can't say anything.

"You are like kids who want to eat the entire box of chocolates. There should be some magic and enigma. If we can hold it back, you will have more to look forward to."

Benedict revealed his glee at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena.

"I'm hugely, hugely excited and I'm very, very flattered. I'm very, very excited... I'm just getting my head around the fact that it's happened. If you'll forgive me, I'll pass on that. But, my headline is that I'm over the moon," he said.
