Dakota Fanning is to play a punk band's roadie in a new movie.

The Twilight actress is currently attached to the 80s-set coming-of-age story, reported Deadline.

The as-yet-untitled film, which was written and will be directed by Gerardo Naranjo, f ollows roadie Viena (Dakota) as she hits the road with a punk group in a bid to find herself.

Shooting is due to start in February.

Dakota has tackled the rock genre before, playing 70s singer Cherie Currie in 2010 movie The Runaways, which also featured her Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart.

The 19-year-old actress has several movies coming up including crime film Every Secret Thing and biographical film Effie.
