Damon building up to Great Wall?

Matt Damon is reported to be in talks for a starring role in The Great Wall.

The Bourne actor is thought to be considering taking the lead in the Legendary Pictures film, which has been in the pipeline at the company for several years according to Deadline.

It focusses on the mystery behind why the Great Wall of China was built, and the secrets involved in its story.

Last year, the film almost got off the ground with Ed Zwick directing and Henry Cavill and Benjamin Walker cast in roles, but the project hit the wall and now Zhang Yimou is signed up to direct.

Matt is said to be a big fan of Zhang's, so he is thought to be trying to overcome scheduling problems to make sure that they can work together.

Tony Gilroy wrote the most recent draft of the film, and has worked with Matt before as he scripted the Bourne films.

The actor can next be seen in sci-fi thriller The Martian and is rumoured to be signing up to another Bourne film with director Paul Greengrass.
