Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs biopic to close London Film Festival
Danny Boyle's film about late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs will close the 2015 BFI London Film Festival.
Stars of the drama Steve Jobs, including Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet and Seth Rogen - as well as the Oscar-winning director - will walk the red carpet at the closing night gala on October 18 at the Odeon Leicester Square.
It is Boyle's third film to bring the curtain down on the festival, following Slumdog Millionaire in 2008 and 127 Hours in 2010.
The Lancashire-born film-maker said: "If London was the cradle of the Industrial Revolution then San Francisco is the Bethlehem of the digital one.
"We had a brilliant time making this movie in Silicon Valley and I hope Londoners will enjoy a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the modern world. It's always special to bring work home so thanks to BFI London Film Festival for their continued support."
X-Men star Fassbender portrays technology creator Jobs in the drama, which has been adapted from Walter Isaacson's biography by Aaron Sorkin.
Oscar-winner Winslet portrays Joanna Hoffman, a member of the original Mac and NeXT team, with Rogen as Jobs's fellow co-founder Steve Wozniak. Jeff Daniels plays former Apple chief executive John Sculley, while Katherine Waterston and Michael Stuhlbarg also appear.
Steve Jobs, which is released in UK cinemas on November 13, spans a period of 14 years between 1984 and 1998, focusing on three major launches - the Macintosh in 1984, the NeXT Cube in 1988 and the iMac in 1998.
Clare Stewart, BFI London Film Festival director, said: "We are thrilled to announce that Steve Jobs will be this year's BFI London Film Festival closing night gala. Danny Boyle has created an exhilarating and audacious film starring Michael Fassbender as the complex, charismatic digital pioneer."
Suffragette, starring Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan and Helena Bonham Carter, will open the festival on October 7.
The full line-up for the event will be announced on September 1.
The 59th BFI London Film Festival, in partnership with American Express, runs from October 7 to 18.
