Davis joins Gyllenhaal in Prisoners

Viola Davis is joining the cast of Prisoners

Viola Davis has reportedly signed up to star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in Prisoners.

The Oscar-nominated star of The Help will also join Paul Dano, Melissa Leo and Hugh Jackman for the thriller, according to The Wrap.

The film is about a carpenter (Hugh) who takes the law into his own hands after his daughter and her friend are kidnapped.

Jake will play a detective in the movie, which is set to start filming early next year.

Viola starred with Jake's sister Maggie in the drama Won't Back Down, about parents taking control of their local school.
