De Niro joins Pattinson in film

Robert De Niro has signed up for real-life gangster drama Idol's Eye.

The Hollywood heavyweight will star in the upcoming movie alongside Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson, reported Deadline.

French director Olivier Assayas will be at the helm of the film, which is about the men who mistakenly robbed Chicago mob boss Tony Accardo in his home in 1978.

It hasn't been announced which characters the actors will play.

Production on Idol's Eye is due to get under way in October in Chicago and Toronto.

De Niro, 70, has several films coming up including action movie Hands Of Stone and another mobster tale, The Irishman.
