De Niro's Joy reunion with Russell

Robert De Niro is reuniting with Jennifer Lawrence and director David O Russell for new movie Joy.

The veteran actor confirmed rumours that he was to work with the director and The Hunger Games star for a third time, while speaking at a press conference in Rome, following a screening of Remembering The Artist: Robert De Niro, Sr, a film about the actor's late father.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Robert said: "Yes I am going to do something with them. I am going to play a father."

Jennifer will star in the title role of the film, which will tell the story of Joy Mangano, a struggling Long Island single mother who went on to become one of America's most successful entrepreneurs after inventing the self-wringing miracle mop.

Robert has previously worked with David and Jennifer on the award-winning films Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.

David revealed in a recent interview that he is also hoping to get Bradley Cooper - who appeared in both Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle - on board for Joy as well.
