Denzel for Magnificent Seven remake

Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua are teaming up again on a remake of The Magnificent Seven.

The actor and director worked together on the Oscar-winning 2001 thriller Training Day and have just collaborated again on The Equalizer - a big screen remake of the the 1980s TV crime series.

Now Antoine has confirmed to Variety at the Toronto International Film Festival that they will be working together again on a remake of the 1960 classic Western movie.

The original Magnificent Seven - the story of a town that assembles a squad of seven elite gunmen to protect it - was directed by John Sturges and its ensemble cast included Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson.

Deadline reported that MGM is in early discussions with the pair, as the studio has been trying to remake the film for some time, originally developing a version for Tom Cruise.
