Depp eyes Pitt for Lone Ranger
Johnny Depp has his eye on Brad Pitt to take the title role in The Lone Ranger.
The Alice In Wonderland star, who has signed on to play sidekick Tonto in Gore Verbinski's remake, got to know Brad after working with Angelina Jolie on The Tourist and reckons he should take the lead.
"There's so many interesting possibilities out there - Brad [Pitt] would be great," he told Entertainment Tonight.
It would be the first time they have appeared together on screen since 80s TV show 21 Jump Street, where Brad had a cameo, and the first time they take on the big screen together.
There is another big star Johnny has also considered for the part - George Clooney.
"[George] Clooney would be great. Don't know who it's going to be just yet," he added.
Johnny, whose maternal grandfather is Cherokee, wants to portray Native American Indians in a different light to traditional Hollywood films in The Lone Ranger, which will be based on the classic Western.
"Native Americans in cinema, over the past however many decades, have been treated somewhat shabbily. This one has plans to rectify that," he said.
