Johnny Depp has admitted that he becomes friends with the characters he plays and finds it hard when filming ends.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star told TV Times it was tough to say goodbye to his big screen alter egos.

He said: "You get possessed by the roles you play. All the characters I've played I've got to know and like and become pals with. So it's hard to say goodbye at the end. You feel you've lost a piece of yourself."

Johnny, who will star in The Lone Ranger this summer, said the most important thing was that his children were proud of him.

He said: "I'm just an actor and if I can leave something behind that my kids will be proud of, then that's what I want.

"What really matters to me is if I can be a good man and a good dad. In the interim, if I can do some interesting work or something that's kind of outside what others are doing, then boy, I'm blessed."
