Deyn excited about Sunset Song role

Agyness Deyn said she's thrilled to be starring in Sunset Song

Agyness Deyn has revealed that she can't wait to start filming period drama Sunset Song.

The Pusher star has signed on for her next starring role as impoverished farmer's daughter Chris Guthrie alongside Peter Mullen in Terence Davies' pre-wartime drama Sunset Song, based on Lewis Grassic Gibbon's 1932 novel.

"She is such a heroine and so strong. She had such a hard life and the film looks at how she got through it. Peter Mullen is playing my father so I'm just really excited," she said.

The 29-year-old model-turned-actress previously revealed signing on for the part was a no-brainer.

"When I read the script I fell completely in love with the character and the story," she said.

"I'm so honoured and excited to be working with Terence, he's such an incredible director. I can't wait to get started and just hope that I can do Chris Guthrie justice!"

:: Pusher opens in cinemas on October 12.
