Director leaves Olympus sequel

Gerard Butler's Olympus Has Fallen sequel is without a director after Fredrik Bond dropped out.

The Charlie Countryman filmmaker was due to start shooting London Has Fallen next month, but pulled out due to creative differences, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.

Movie bosses have apparently indicated they are hoping to fill the vacancy within 72 hours.

Gerard is reprising his role as a former Secret Service agent in the follow-up to last year's terrorism thriller, and Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman are also due to return. Actresses Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo are joining the cast.

The sequel will see the British Prime Minister die under mysterious circumstances. An attack on the city takes place during his funeral.

It is set to be released in October 2015.
