Director Wright out of Ant-Man film

Edgar Wright and Ant-Man are going their separate ways, the British film-maker has said.

In a joint statement, Edgar and Marvel said the director and studio had differences over their vision for the film and made an "amicable" decision to part. Marvel says a new director will be announced shortly.

Marvel announced in 2012 that it tapped Edgar to bring its smallest superhero to the screen. Paul Rudd will play Ant-Man, a scientist who can shrink himself to the size of an insect.

Edgar's credits include The World's End, Hot Fuzz, Shaun Of The Dead and Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.

The change in Ant-Man leadership will not affect the film's release date next July.
