Don Cheadle joins Avengers sequel

Don Cheadle has joined the cast of the Avengers sequel.

The 49-year-old actor will reprise his Iron Man role of James "Rhodey" Rhodes - or War Machine / Iron Patriot - in Age Of Ultron, Hitfix has confirmed.

The site says the character "has a key role in the conflict with Ultron that is the main focus of the sequel".

Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L Jackson are already on board for Joss Whedon's next Marvel superhero instalment.

And last month Elizabeth Olsen confirmed she would be playing Wanda Maximoff, also known as The Scarlet Witch, in the follow up to last year's box office hit. Aaron Taylor-Johnson has reportedly signed a deal to play Quicksilver.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron will be released in May 2015.
