Don Johnson: Rodriguez is rock star
Don Johnson says filmmaker Robert Rodriguez was "a total rock star" to work with on Machete.
The Miami Vice star hit the red carpet in Los Angeles for a screening of the movie, and talked about working with the offbeat director.
"He's a total rock star and he's so creative. It's like putting on a pair of comfortable blue jeans," Don explained.
"You just show up at work and Robert says, 'Do it like this' and you say, 'Oh, ok that's a cool idea'. You just do it and he says, 'Perfect, let's move on'."
Don doesn't get to wield any of the big knives in the action movie. "I'm a vigilante so I shoot people," he explained.
"It's always fun when you get to shoot people, it's a blast. Pardon the pun!" he laughed.
The 60-year-old said working with the film's leading man Danny Trejo, notorious for playing some of Hollywood's hardest tough guys, had been a joy. "I haven't seen Danny since we were in prison together so it was great reuniting!" Don joked.
He added: "He's great to work with - fun, interesting, and just a dear man."
Don jokingly told reporters on the red carpet they shouldn't be worried about the machetes Danny brought along to the special screening. "Only if he's coming after you with it!" he laughed.
