Doug Liman in talks for Railhead

Doug Liman is in talks to direct new children's adventure movie Railhead.

Warner Bros has acquired the rights to Philip Reeve's upcoming children's book Railhead.

Aimed at readers aged 10 to 11 years old, the novel is set in a futuristic world where trains run through space via portals. The main character is a petty thief hired to steal an object that turns out to be more important than he thought, sparking a chain of events that could change the future of the galaxy.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed Warner Bros has approached Doug to direct.

The director of Mr And Mrs Smith and The Bourne Identity made upcoming sci-fi action movie Edge Of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, for Warners.

Railhead is due to be published in autumn 2015 by Oxford University Press.
