Dumbo to fly again in live action

Dumbo is to fly again on the big screen in a new live action movie.

Disney is developing a new film based on the classic 1941 animation about a circus elephant who can fly, the Hollywood Reporter revealed.

Transformers: Age Of Extinction writer Ehren Kruger is said to be penning the script that will build a family tale around the circus elephant who is ridiculed for his enormous ears and learns to fly through the help of his only true friend, a mouse.

The cartoon was Disney's fourth animated film after Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio and Fantasia.

And the planned remake will follow a series of recent live action films made by Disney, based on previous animations, including Alice In Wonderland, Maleficent and upcoming films Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Beauty And The Beast.

Elle Fanning, who starred as Sleeping Beauty in Maleficent, recently revealed she'd love to see a new movie version of Dumbo.

The 16-year-old old actress said: "I would love that. Little baby elephants - that would be so cute."
