Dwayne Johnson for Janson Directive
Dwayne Johnson is in early talks to star in security agent thriller The Janson Directive.
Variety reported that if a deal is agreed, the actor and wrestler - also known as The Rock - will also produce the movie with Universal.
The film is based on Robert Ludlum's book about a former counter intelligence agent who, after leaving covert operations due to the high number of sanctioned serial killings, goes into business as a private security consultant.
Like a modern-day Robin Hood, Janson only takes assignments that he believes will lead to helping those in need.
The studio is currently looking for a scriptwriter to adapt the novel, and sources said Universal sees the project as a Jason Bourne-esque franchise for Johnson to appear in more than one movie.
Johnson already has The Fast And Furious and G.I. Joe franchises keeping him busy, with his new film Hercules due out this summer.
He has been shooting disaster movie San Andreas and appeared in the pilot for HBO soccer series Ballers, which has now been commissioned for a series.
