Eastwood picks his Jersey Boys

Clint Eastwood has apparently chosen the cast for his film adaptation of the musical Jersey Boys.

It was previously revealed that the director was considering stage actors, rather than big Hollywood names for his movie version of the stage show about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

Now Variety reports that Clint and producer Graham King are hoping to sign up Broadway stars John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, Michael Lomenda and Boardwalk Empire actor Vincent Piazza for the project, which Eastwood will direct.

Young would play Frank Valli, a role he has already won a Tony award for on Broadway, Bergen has previously played Bob Gaudio in a Las Vegas run of the show and Lomenda would reprise the role of Nick Massi from when he appeared in the musical on Broadway. Piazza would play Tommy Devito.

Jersey Boys opened on Broadway in 2005 and won four Tony awards and a Grammy, plus an Olivier award after opening in the West End in 2008.

King originally gained the rights to the film in 2010 and signed up Jon Favreau to direct.

Frankie Valli and Four Seasons star Bob Gaudio will be executive producers on the film.
