Aaron Eckhart is set for a monster role in I, Frankenstein.
The Battle: Los Angeles actor is confirmed to play Frankenstein's creature Adam in the "modern-day epic", based on Kevin Grevioux's graphic novel, reported Deadline.
Writer and director Stuart Beattie revealed he was immensely impressed by Aaron's award-nominated turn in Rabbit Hole, saying: "This story is all about what it means to be human, and there could be no more achingly human performance than the one Aaron gave in Rabbit Hole. We are so excited to see what he will bring to this role."
Producer Tom Rosenberg added: "We know that Aaron, with his proven range, depth and intelligence, is going to make an iconic Adam."
In the story, Adam, who has survived to present day because of a genetic quirk in his creation, makes his way to a dark, gothic metropolis, only to find himself caught in the middle of a centuries-old war between two immortal clans.
Filming is set to begin in Australia in January 2012.
