Efron for Grisham adaptation role?

Zac Efron is apparently attached to star in and produce an adaptation of John Grisham's classic thriller The Associate.

The former Disney star is said to be set to play the lead as well as taking on a producing role, according to The Wrap.

He will play a Yale Law School graduate who is blackmailed by a group of criminals to work at a top law firm and spy on their work in a dispute between two powerful defence contractors.

The film had originally been set up at Paramount with Shia LaBeouf attached to star, but now that it's no longer going ahead at the studios and Paperboy star Zac has taken his place, it will be shopped around to other studios once a writer has worked on the script.

Parkland actor Zac's production company Ninjas Runnin' Wild, which worked on his recent film That Awkward Moment, will produce alongside Red Wagon Entertainment.
