Ejiofor and Paltrow sharing secrets

Chiwetel Ejiofor will play an ex spy in The Secrets In Their Eyes

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Gwyneth Paltrow are set to star together in crime thriller The Secret In Their Eyes.

The award-winning 12 Years A Slave actor will play a former MI5 agent in an adaptation of Juan Jose Campanella's 2009 film of the same name, which won the best Foreign Language Film Oscar.

Gwyneth Paltrow will play the female lead, Deadline reported.

The film sees Chiwetel's ex spy character return to Boston on a joint task force with the FBI, still obsessed by an unsolved murder that continues to haunt him. But in his quest to solve the crime he will discover a shocking secret about the past.

Oscar nominated writer Billy Ray - whose work includes Captain Phillips and The Hunger Games - will direct The Secret In Their Eyes from his own screenplay.

Filming is due to begin in Boston in the autumn.

IM Global will produce the movie. Founder and CEO Stuart Ford said: "Billy has written a wonderfully intelligent, twisting screenplay and we're lucky enough to have attached two world class acting talents at the top of their game for Secret. We're confident of bringing further great cast on board as we move towards production.

"The thought of combining the originality of the original film with the talent of Billy Ray and the support off IM Global is irresistible."
