Elba in talks to be next James Bond

Idris Elba could be set to play 007 in the future

Idris Elba has been in talks to play the first black James Bond, Naomie Harris has revealed.

The star of Luther and The Wire has previously been linked to the role, and now Naomie, who plays new Bond girl Eve opposite Daniel Craig in Skyfall, has revealed he has met with Bond bosses.

The actress, who is set to star with Idris in Mandela: The Long Walk To Freedom, told The Sun: "I didn't realise that there was this talk and then I did a film with Idris and he said that he met [Bond producer] Barbara Broccoli and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond.

"I would have to vote for Idris because I just finished working with him and he's a great guy."

However, Daniel has played 007 in three films and has signed up to make five.

Idris has previously played down rumours linking him to the role.

He said last year: "It's a rumour? I just don't want to be the black James Bond. Sean Connery wasn't the Scottish James Bond, and Daniel Craig wasn't the blue-eyed James Bond, so if I played him, I don't want to be called the black James Bond."

This isn't a good time to make travel plans. Weather conditions and work responsibilities have a way of wreaking havoc with your schedule. Wait another few days before putting down a hefty deposit. Working behind the scenes will yield significant rewards. If someone asks you to serve as their assistant, go ahead and accept. The pay will be excellent and there will be a lot of fringe benefits, too. Don't talk about a neighbour's private life in mixed company.More
