Elf voted favourite Christmas movie

Will Ferrell's film Elf has been picked as the top Christmas film

Will Ferrell's festive film Elf has been voted the best Christmas movie.

His portrayal of wannabe Santa's helper Buddy Hobbs narrowly beat other favourites like Miracle On 34th Street, Home Alone and It's A Wonderful Life in the MyVoucherCodes.co.uk poll of more than 1,190 people.

Richard Attenborough's Miracle On 34th Street came second, with Home Alone and 1938's A Christmas Carol in third and fourth spots respectively.

Santa Claus: The Movie took fifth place, followed by black and white screen classic It's A Wonderful Life, Love Actually and The Snowman.

Topping off the top ten are How The Grinch Stole Christmas, starring Jim Carrey as the mean-spirited creature, and Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Mark Pearson from MyVoucherCodes.co.uk said: "A classic Christmas film needs a classic storyline and Elf certainly has this with a very comical twist. The film shows that Christmas is in danger and children may not get their presents, so Elf comes to the rescue by spreading Christmas cheer for all!"

Gemini:

Someone will steal credit for your work, which is maddening. Drawing attention to the problem will only make you look petty. You're better off accepting the situation with quiet dignity and grace. Move on to the next assignment, but make sure to sign your name to every piece of work that is submitted. Tell your boss what you are doing on a regular basis. You'll sound like a pest, but at least it's better than getting stabbed in the back.More
