Elisabeth Moss: Ricky Gervais was excruciating
Elisabeth Moss thinks Ricky Gervais’ performance at the Golden Globes was “hilarious but excruciating.”
The British comedian hosted the ceremony and was widely criticised for his verbal attack on several high profile Hollywood stars. Elisabeth - who is best known for her role as Peggy Olson on US television series Mad Men – was in attendance, and believes it’s artists such as Ricky who help put the acting profession in perspective.
"Hilarious but excruciating. I love him. I mean, what was he supposed to do? I understand it can go too far sometimes. But you've got to enjoy somebody – can I use a British expression? – 'taking the mickey' out of the spectacle of an awards show. It's nice for somebody to come in and remind everybody: we're not saving the world here," she told British newspaper The Observer.
Fresh from filming Mad Men, Elisabeth is appearing with Keira Knightley in a London theatre production of the play The Children’s Hour. The story follows two women who are accused with having an affair with a pupil at a school they both work in the 1930s. Elisabeth is looking forward to seeing how the story goes down with audiences.
