Elizabeth Banks is apparently in talks to star in sci-fi action film Hunger Games.
The Spider-Man star would play Effie Trinket, an unreliable bureaucrat who escorts her district's young death-match contestants to their fate, Variety reports, although Lionsgate refused to confirm she was in negotiations.
Jennifer Lawrence and The Kids Are Alright's Josh Hutcherson are to star as lovers in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' young-adult novel, set in a dystopian future where each of the twelve districts in the Capitol must send a teenage boy and girl to fight to the death in a battle which is broadcast live on TV.
Lionsgate have announced on the film's official Facebook page that unknown actors Amandla Stenberg and Dayo Okeniyi, will play fellow competitors Rue and Thresh.
Liam Hemsworth has been cast as Josh's character's friend and love rival.
Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross from a script by Billy Ray, is set to be released in 2012.
