Elle Fanning is to star in How To Talk To Girls At Parties.

The 16-year-old Maleficent star will play an American tourist who escapes her tour group to explore London and ends up at a party in 1970s Croydon, in the movie adapted from a Neil Gaiman short story of the same name, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The original story - which was nominated for a Hugo Award for best short story and won the Locus Award for the same category - told the story of two teenage boys who go to a party in 1970s London. While one finds it easy to chat up girls, the other is shy and by trying to make conversation, finds out more about the girls.

Girls director John Cameron Mitchell will helm the movie and has also adapted the screenplay with Philippa Goslett. Their script focuses on a young punk who uses music and art as a way to escape, who meets Elle's character.
