Eoghan devastated by Diana's departure
Monday, 8 December 2008
Eoghan was left devastated on Saturday night by close friend Diana Vickers’ departure from the X Factor.
The 16-year-old was inconsolable and rushed onto the stage sobbing during Diana’s farewell performance in the semi-final.
Eoghan and Diana held onto each other and wept as her song stopped abruptly.
Earlier, as the results were revealed the teenager stood shaking his head convinced that he would be the ninth person evicted from the contest.
But when show host Dermot O’Leary announced that Diana had been booted out the Dungiven boy appeared overcome with shock and distress.
He later said: “We’ve gone through this whole journey together, I can’t imagine it now. I absolutely adore her.”
For weeks speculation has been rife that Eoghan (right) and 17-year-old Diana, from Blackburn, are a couple. Both deny the rumours saying they’re just ‘best friends’.
Last night on the X Factor website Diana spoke of surprise and delight at her close pal’s outburst.
“When Eoghan ran onto the stage it was the best moment in my life. It was so emotional. I was just singing my song, but I found it difficult to continue because I was thinking so much about the words. Then Eoghan came forward — I had no idea he was rushing onto the stage. But the next thing I knew I had someone’s arms around me and then everyone was hugging me — I loved that.”
The pair were joined on stage by the other finalists Alexandra Burke and boy band JLS.

Diana's final performance had me in tears. It was very emotional when Eugohan ran out and the other finalists followed. You can
see that they have all become such good friends through the X Factor experience infact I know he's only 16 but I'd say he loves
Diana to bits.
Unfortunately the singers are not living in the real world whilst going through the X Factor experience and so you would like to think that they will remain such good friends after the show is finished. I would imagine it is a very surreal experience.
Good luck to Diana for the future. I look forward to buying your album.
Sam, West Yorkshire.

All this blubbering and sobbing by contestants really gets up my nose.
What ever happened to the stiff upper lip that has served the British so well.
Rue the day we start acting like the French or Italians who seem to blubber at everthing in public
