Eoghan: if I don’t win the X Factor, I hope Diana does

Eoghan Quigg says if he doesn’t win the X Factor he wants ‘best friend’ Diana Vickers to do so.

The Dungiven boy, 16, has struck up a close bond with Diana and spends most of his spare time in the X Factor house with her.

He says it would be “amazing” to see the 17-year-old win the show.

Diana and Eoghan, who have denied rumours of a romance, are currently the hot favourites to win this series of the X Factor.

Eoghan said: “I’d probably like to see Diana winning it if I didn’t win because she’s my best friend in the house. It would be really cool and amazing to see her win.

“There’s nothing going on between us though, we’re just really good friends.”

Eoghan — who is keeping up his studies while in the X Factor house — admitted he did miss his friends back home in Dungiven.

“I’m not missing school because I’m here doing what I want to be doing,” he said. “I do miss my friends though because I normally would see them every day.”

But he’s looking forward to getting back home at Christmas to spend time with his family and new sister Chrissie Mia.

“I plan to go home and spend Christmas with family and friends in Ireland,” he said. “I’m just going to relax a bit after it’s all over.”

The talented teenager said his favourite so far had been his Take That song last weekend.

“I liked everyone of them but my favourite is probably Never Forget by Take That because I got to do a lot of stuff on stage.”

He said he was overwhelmed with the support shown to him.

He's a sweet kid. I actually feel bad for both Eoghan and Diana. The media is horrible and the "haters" are worse. It's hard enough on adults, but they are still children and they've gotten slammed left and right. I guess that's the price of fame, but still I find it hard to watched them go through it. I'm hoping there is no lasting damage. They seem like two very nice kids and I'd hate for this experience to pull them down emotionally when it should be the reverse. All the best to both of them and I hope neither wins. There are some things that are worth more than fame and fortune....sanity and privacy just to name a couple.
