Evans still on Bourne shortlist

Luke Evans has claimed he is still on the shortlist to star in The Bourne Legacy.

It had been reported by Latino Review that Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner would be playing a new hero in Tony Gilroy's big-screen adaptation, much like Matt Damon's spy alter-ego Jason Bourne, but Luke insisted no decisions had been made.

He told The Playlist: "It's just nice to be in good company, there's four of us left."

The Welsh actor joins Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom), Dominic Cooper (The Devil's Double) and Garett Hedlund, who are also in the running.

"I've met the director, he's fantastic. The script that I've been given, I've not been allowed to read the whole script, no one's allowed to read the whole script, but the script that I've been given is great. It's so well done. It just rolls off the tongue," Luke continued.

The Bourne Legacy, the first without Matt or director Paul Greengrass, will take the title from Robert Ludlum's book, but will not use the story.

Tony has also made it very clear that the new film isn't a reboot, recast or prequel, and that no one's replacing Matt.
