Evans to star in Great Gatsby?

Luke Evans is in the frame for a role in The Great Gatsby

Luke Evans is apparently in the running for a key role in Baz Luhrmann's film version of The Great Gatsby.

The Welsh Three Musketeers star and Animal Kingdom's Joel Edgerton are both said to have taken part in readings for the role of wealthy Tom Buchanan, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Ben Affleck reportedly considered the role earlier this year, but had to pull out due to other work commitments.

Carey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire are all said to have signed up to work with Moulin Rouge director Baz on the period drama.

Meanwhile Luke is also starring opposite John Cusack and Alice Eve in the Edgar Allan Poe thriller The Raven.
