Ewan McGregor joins crime thriller

Ewan McGregor will play Australia's most wanted man in his new film

Ewan McGregor has reportedly joined the cast of new heist film Son Of A Gun.

The Salmon Fishing In The Yemen star is due to start shooting the crime thriller next year, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.

Ewan, 41, is set to play Australia's public enemy number one and the flick focuses on the relationship between him and his protege.

So far it isn't known who will star alongside the Scottish actor.

Son Of A Gun will be directed by Julius Avery, who also penned the script.

Ewan currently has several projects on his slate, including fantasy/adventure film Jack The Giant Killer and August: Osage County, which co-stars Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep.
