Fantasy film role for Emma Watson

Emma Watson could have a new fantasy role in the pipeline

Emma Watson is set to star in a new fantasy movie.

The Bling Ring actress has signed up for the big screen adaptation of Erika Johansen's novel Queen Of The Tearling, reported Variety.

It seems it could be the start of a new franchise for British star Emma, as the book is part of an as-yet-unpublished trilogy.

Described as "a female Game Of Thrones", the movie will follow 19-year-old princess heroine Kelsea Glynn as she tries to reclaim her deceased mother's throne and redeem her kingdom, the Tearling, from corruption and the dark magic of the tyrannical Red Queen.

Emma will also be an executive producer on the film and she will be reunited with Harry Potter producer David Heyman, who is also on board.

The movie is currently in the early stages and so far no director has been announced.

The first book in the series is due to be released next year.
