Ferrell to star in Match Maker

Will Ferrell looks set to star as tennis player Bobby Riggs on the big screen.

The Anchorman actor is attached to Match Maker, which is about the legendary battle of the sexes match in the 70s between Riggs and Billie Jean King, reported Variety.

It hasn't been announced who will take on the role of King in the comedy drama.

The film is adapted from a magazine article about the match, which saw Riggs come out of retirement to challenge women's tennis player King in a 1973 game, which was watched on TV by millions of Americans.

Will is known to be a sports fan, and has starred in movies such as Kicking And Screaming, about a little league soccer team, Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby, which was about NASCAR racing, and basketball comedy Semi-Pro.
