Will Ferrell has insisted he "would die" to make an Anchorman sequel.
Speaking at the premiere of The Other Guys, the actor said he and the rest of the original cast want to film Anchorman 2 - but Paramount Pictures have yet to agree to another movie.
"We would die to make one but we can't unless they agree to it - they own the rights," he said.
"We can only hope that Paramount Pictures will change their minds."
But writer and director Adam McKay promised fans there would definitely be a follow-up to the Ron Burgundy classic, though he said it may be on stage rather than on the big screen.
He said: "I want an Anchorman sequel. We had a little window but we couldn't line up the budget so now it's another year or two where we kind of have to put it together and we'll see what happens.
"But eventually it will get done. I promise it will get done, either as a film or on stage."
