Film about demolished London estate in running for £10,000 Jarman Prize

An artist who spent seven years making a film about the estate where she lived is in the running for a prestigious £10,000 prize.

Andrea Luka Zimmerman is one of six people on the shortlist for the £10,000 Jarman Prize - named after filmmaker Derek Jarman.

Her 83-minute film, called Estate, A Reverie, tracks her time on the Haggerston Estate in east London before it was demolished and re-built.

The other shortlisted artists come from across the UK including Belfast, Glasgow and Kent and their work will be included in a touring exhibition that will visit venues in Manchester, Margate, Glasgow, Belfast and Cardiff before arriving at east London's Whitechapel Gallery.

Adrian Wootton, chief executive of Film London which organises the award, said: " The Jarman Award shortlist yet again showcases some of the UK's most interesting artists working with the moving image.

"We very much look forward to presenting their work through our largest national tour to date and encourage audiences across the UK to explore this fantastic range of work and these brilliant artists.

"This Award is central to our support of artist filmmakers and I am proud our initiatives continue to help drive the sector forward, as the artists we work with innovate and break new ground. I thank Arts Council England for their ongoing investment which allows us to continue this important work."
