Fincher hoping for Dragon sequels

David Fincher has teased that the follow-ups to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo could still go ahead.

The filmmaker released the movie starring Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara and Stellan Skarsgard in 2011, but so far the film adaptations of the sequels - The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest - haven't materialised.

However, David has now indicated that the next instalments based on Stieg Larsson's novels could be made, reported Film Divider.

He told Swedish site Afton Bladet: "I think because (producer Sony) already has spent millions of dollars on the rights and the script, it will result in something."

Apparently referring to the second story, The Girl Who Played With Fire, he added: "The script that we now have has huge potential. I can reveal that it is extremely different from the book."

Larsson's trilogy was turned into three Swedish films in 2009.
