Franco: I get queasy around blood

James Franco has confessed he's not keen on the sight of blood

James Franco may star in one of the goriest film scenes of the year, but the 127 Hours star has confessed he gets weak-stomached around blood.

The 32-year-old, who plays a trapped mountaineer forced to amputate part of his arm in the new Danny Boyle movie, admitted the real-life red stuff made him nauseous.

"I admit that I get a little queasy, especially when it comes to blood around my arms," James told People.

"When I go to the doctor for a check-up and they draw blood, I admit, I'm not good at that at all."

But the actor insists he stayed strong when he watched the amputation moment in his new film, which has reportedly made some cinema-goers faint.

"When I watched that scene, I was fine," he said.

"A lot of the physicality was real," the 2011 Academy Awards host added.

"I was really being bruised, and the frustration and the emotion would arise in an organic way as well."
