Gary Oldman joins Monster Butler

Gary Oldman will play a taxidermist in Monster Butler

Gary Oldman is to play a creepy taxidermist in new crime drama Monster Butler.

Malcolm McDowell will star in the film, based on the true story of Roy Fontaine aka Archibald Hall, who was a bisexual jewel thief, con man and serial killer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Gary has signed up to play Wiggy, a taxidermist with anger issues and some shady businesses on the side, who teams up with Fontaine on a number of crimes.

Lord Of The Rings star Dominic Monaghan and The Borgias' Joanne Whalley have also signed up to the film.

The film will chronicle Fontaine's journey from a petty thief as a teenager to a serial killer as his crimes lead him on a descent into darkness. Until he died in 2002, he was the oldest person serving a whole life sentence in prison.

Dominic has been cast as David Wright, Fontaine's lover, who he meets in prison and teams up with for work on the outside. But he proves to be the con artist's Achilles' heal when a blackmail attempt leads him into murder.

Douglas Rath is directing the film, which begins shooting in June on location in Scotland and London.
