Gerard Butler: I love what I do

Gerard Butler stars in new film Playing For Keeps

Gerard Butler has revealed that he loves being a film star - but would like a life away from the spotlight.

The Scottish actor, who will next be seen in romantic comedy Playing For Keeps, admitted that sometimes the constant press attention can be overwhelming.

"I love what I do but I also love getting away from it all," he said.

Asked what he would do if he was to retire from acting, Gerard added: "If I was to give it up, I think I would spend a while just going seeing the world, just chilling. Going to the middle of nowhere and relaxing because I love that.

"You appreciate that all the more when you do this. You're filming, you're around a lot of people, you do press, you're around a lot of people, you do premieres... It's all fun but you need to balance that out with something else."

The 43-year-old added: "So I often think that if I was to retire, I would disappear somewhere for a bit."

Gerard also denied rumours that he's been getting singing tips from Johnny Depp, saying: "There's not an ounce of truth in that."
