Gibson 'cool' with Neeson cameo

Liam Neeson

Mel Gibson has no hard feelings about losing his cameo in The Hangover 2, said his replacement Liam Neeson.

There had been reports that the role in the sequel would originally be filled in by Mel, before Liam stepped in.

"I spoke to Mel - Mel's cool about it, we're all cool," the Irish actor told Access Hollywood.

"Apparently, yes [the part was Mel's] - I didn't realise it at the time," he added.

The Oscar-nominated star, who previously worked with Mel in 1984 on The Bounty, described their conversation about the Hangover 2 replacement as "very pleasant".

"Mel and I did a movie together about 20 or 25 years ago. It was a long time ago. So, we know each other," he added.

Liam revealed he is a fan of the original film.

"I saw The Hangover in Berlin. It was one of those nights flicking through channels and it came on and I don't think I've laughed harder in my life," he said.

He denied rumours that his character in the comedy's follow-up is a tattoo artist, and brushed off stories that he shot with Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifinakis and the co-stars on location in Thailand.

"No. It was [at the] Warner Brothers studio. I wish [it was Thailand]!" he added.
