Gibson to be the Blood Father?

Mel Gibson is tipped to star in new action thriller Blood Father.

The Machete Kills star is in talks about leading the film for director Jean-Francois Richet, according to Deadline.

Blood Father is said to be in the style of Liam Neeson's Taken and will follow an ex-con, the role earmarked for Mel, who reunites with his teenage daughter in a bid to protect her from drug dealers.

Production is due to start in New Mexico in May.

Mel, 58, is no stranger to the action genre having starred in the Lethal Weapon and Mad Max movies. He will next be seen in the third instalment of Sylvester Stallone's Expendables franchise.
