Gillan goes bald for Galaxy role

Karen Gillan has shaved her head for her role in Guardians Of The Galaxy.

The former Doctor Who actress stunned fans at Comic-Con when she revealed her red locks were actually a wig, whipping it off and showing off her new shorn look.

"It's liberating," she told the crowd. "I think everyone here should shave their heads."

Karen initially appeared at the convention with her trademark long hairdo, and didn't reveal she had shaved her head until the panel discussion for the Marvel film.

She pulled it off as she was sitting alongside some of her co-stars including Djimon Hounsou, who was photographed smiling and clapping as the actress raised her wig above her head.

The 25-year-old actress plays an alien villain called Nebula in the movie, which also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Benicio del Toro and Glenn Close.

Directed by James Gunn, Guardians Of The Galaxy is expected to be released in August 2014.
