Gomez takes lead with teen movie

Selena Gomez is developing The Sky Is Everywhere

Selena Gomez is to star and produce teenage drama The Sky Is Everywhere.

The Wizards Of Waverly Place star is in talks to adapt Jandy Nelson's novel, which she would also produce through her company July Moon Productions, reported Deadline.

The 19-year-old actress and singer is set to play 17-year-old Lennie Walker, a bookworm who lives in the shadow of extroverted older sister Bailey - but her world is rocked when her sister dies suddenly.

Selena - who also is a UNICEF ambassador and has her own fashion range - set up July Moon in 2008, but this will be the first film on its slate.

Since Disney Channel series The Wizards Of Waverly Place came to an last May, Selena made a big-screen outing in romantic comedy Monte Carlo opposite Leighton Meester and Cory Monteith, and makes a cameo appearance in The Muppets.

She is also set to star in upcoming drama Thirteen Reasons Why and is in talks to appear in comedy Spring Breakers alongside James Franco, Emma Roberts, and Vanessa Hudgens.
