Gone Girl film different to book

Ben Affleck's Gone Girl movie will have a different ending from the book, it has been revealed.

The story - based on Gillian Flynn's best-selling novel about a man who is linked to his wife's death when she disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary - has been tweaked for the big screen, with the author penning an entirely new final act for the screenplay.

Gillian told Entertainment Weekly: "Ben was so shocked by it.

"He would say, 'This is a whole new third act! She literally threw that third act out and started from scratch'."

She went on: "There was something thrilling about taking this piece of work that I'd spent about two years painstakingly putting together with all its eight million Lego pieces and take a hammer to it and bash it apart and reassemble it into a movie."

Rosamund Pike will also star in Gone Girl, playing Ben's character's missing wife.

Tyler Perry is to play the lawyer who represents him, while Carrie Coon will play his twin sister.

Gone Girl is due to be released in October.
