Skyfall director Sam Mendes has finally had his moment of glory after scooping three gongs at the movie magazine Empire Awards 2013.

At last night's star-studded ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, Mendes took home best director and best film awards for his James Bond effort Skyfall, and Empire Inspiration award.

Dame Helen Mirren (67) was queen of the night, receiving the Empire Legend award.

Olympics opening ceremony mastermind Danny Boyle was presented with the Empire Outstanding Contribution award.

The British director has enjoyed a varied career of critically acclaimed films, including his dark debut Shallow Grave and the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire.

Don't get involved with a hidden intrigue. The drama will be exciting at first, but eventually you will tire of keeping secrets. If someone is interested in you romantically, you shouldn't have to sneak around together. An oppressive work situation may tempt you to quit your job. Try not to discuss your plans with colleagues. You don't want a rival to tell your employer about your resignation until you're ready to tender it. Protect your interests at all costs.More
