Gordon-Levitt not taking on Batman

Joseph Gordon-Levitt had been rumoured to be playing Batman

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will not be playing Batman in a new movie, a spokesperson for the star has said.

The US actor played policeman John Blake in this year's Batman film The Dark Night Rises, and this week it was reported that he would be taking on the iconic part himself in upcoming film Justice League.

However, Joseph's representative has now rubbished the rumours, telling Entertainment Weekly the report was completely false.

DC Comics adaptation Justice League sees superheroes unite to fight evil powers.

It is expected to be released in 2015.
