Gosling rules out Lone Ranger role
Ryan Gosling is not going to star in the new Disney film of The Lone Ranger due to scheduling issues.
The Blue Valentine star had been in talks to star as the masked hero alongside Johnny Depp as his Native American friend Tonto, but negotiations are now over.
Ryan's representative confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that reports of his involvement were premature as his schedule had not been fixed.
Ryan is set to star as Logan in the action adventure Logan's Run, which is expected to start production in the autumn, and will next appear in Crazy, Stupid, Love which is released in July.
The movie adaptation hit TV series The Lone Ranger, which tells the story of a masked Texas lawman's battle against injustice, is being directed by Rango's Gore Verbinski from a screenplay by Justin Haythe, who penned the script for Revolutionary Road.
The film is scheduled for release in 2014.
