Goyer making Voyage with Cameron

David Goyer is teaming up with James Cameron for the reboot of sci-fi classic The Fantastic Voyage.

The filmmaker will write the treatment for the remake of the 1966 film, which Cameron is on board to produce, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.

Several other writers had previously been linked to the project, which has been in development for some time but will now be placed on the "fast track".

Goyer will also be an executive producer on the film about scientists who are shrunk down and sent inside the body of an ill colleague in a bid to save his life.

The original movie starred Steven Welch, Raquel Welch and Donald Pleasance, but casting details for the reboot have not been announced.

Goyer's previous screenwriting credits include the Blade trilogy and Christopher Nolan's Batman films.
