Greig daunted by Marigold Hotel

Tamsin Greig has admitted she was a little daunted joining the all-star veteran cast of The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

The Episodes star appears in the sequel to the hit film alongside returning cast Bill Nighy, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith, Celia Imrie and Penelope Wilton and new addition Richard Gere.

Tamsin laughed: "That's a very interesting sentence isn't it - 'me and Richard Gere'... turn up as the newcomers in the film.

"The thing that I love about it is it's called The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Which has this beautiful English quality of down playing it's own beauty.

"But it's a gorgeous film, it's very funny, and it was very daunting to go into that company, but they were all extraordinarily gracious and welcoming, so it was just a dream."

The 2012 film, which also starred Dev Patel and Tom Wilkinson, was a surprise hit earning more than £82 million at the box office worldwide having been made for around £6 million.

The sequel, which will be released in 2015, will pick up where the first film left off, and features Indian hotelier Sonny (Dev) preparing for his marriage to Sunaina (Tena Desae).

Tamsin is preparing to make her musical debut in Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown which previews at London's Playhouse Theatre from Tuesday December 16, 2014.
